Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman from the United States. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently serves as its president. Buss was born in California and was raised as part of a rich family. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate businessman who became proprietor of the Lakers and other sports businesses. The couple divorced in 1972, which caused her to feel like she was neglected. At the age 19 she became the General Manager of Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis club. After that, she established the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. Before she became vice president of the Lakers She was also the president of Great Western Forum. Buss, her five brothers and sisters and their father, who owned the Lakers and ruled them up to his passing away in 2013, received this ownership through a trust.
